What a bargin!!! From Israel.

Starting 12 March 2006 on ebay you may start bidding for a russian medal for 330 euros, that is 392 USD. The medals is listed as Russia Medal, no discription, no foto, only the starting price.

I believe this is the rare Soviet Order PIAP (pig in a poke).

Another 6 stars General...

And from the rare Police-airwing units!
I have seen some bad fakes and some very good fakes of soviet medals on ebay. I believe this one is the worst of the worst.

The bidding ended on 19 March 2006, but there were no takers.

Almost looks like a prop from an early James Bond movie.

They seem to be from the same seller as the one posted in your post #626... :thumbsdown

Cheers.

I have seen the 40th Anniversary of Victory in the GPW on ebay before labled as the Soviet Arctic Convoy Medal. It has shown up again.

I know that British and American seamen were awarded the medal because of their sea service getting supplies to the Soviets during the GPW.

I find it a joke that one should rename the medal (in their mind) to specifically target on small population who got the medal. Yes that is what they got the medal for, but it does not mean that is the only reason the medal was established.

Here's a sad one...

In one auction (ending today) the seller is selling a Red Banner and Red Star with an order book. In the auction he states:

"These orders come with the Presentation Document Book and were awarded on August 6,1948 the book has some damage on page 3 and has been repaired see picture there are three awards listed in book I only have 2 the Order of the Red Banner and Red Star"

Well, the third listed award is a Military Merit medal number 1777739. Sometimes missing from long service groups like these, but looking at the guy's other auctions, he has the Military Merit medal in a separate auction, away from the two other awards! :angerr In the second auction he mentions:

"Combat Service Medal Type 2 Variation 2 - 5-sided suspension. Ring soldered to the medal. Saber hilt straight. Serial Number of 1777739"

Now, I can see splitting off a Red Banner, or maybe the Red Star as those are orders and are worth money by themselves. But to split the Military Merit away from the group????? That's one of the dumbest eBay things I've seen in a loooong time... :banghead
