willie777 Wrote:Jan, you should file a dispute in paypal if you have not yet. He will either sell the item to you, or refund the money. If not, escalate it to a claim, where paypal will consider the statement you wrote in the dispute and probably paypal will steal some money from seller's account and deposit it in yours.
I really do not think Paypal will steal money from someone else's account. In this case I would think it would be a refund from a failed transaction rather then 'stealing' from someone.
I hope that January keeps us posted as he moves through this process. The seller should honor the deal. It was his mistake and he should own up to it. Thanks Clete

I agree. We can learn from this process which rarely occurs.

Agreed again. But I get the feeling this guy's a weasle.
Time will tell.
Good luck.

In my opinion, auctions alway seem to favor the seller over the buyer. Take a look at some of the feedback of these sellers sometimes. Some of the negatives really make you wonder how they are able to still sell there. That company has a habit of looking the other way when someone is putting money in their pockets.
This is listed as a "Russian Soviet Air Pilot Visor Hat". What kind of wings did the Soviets have on their Locomotives? I have heard that landing a plane on an aircraft carrier is difficult. I believe it would be more difficult to land a train back on the tracks.
Just an update on my situation. I complained to eBay and opened a dispute with PayPal, and quit replying to emails from the seller. Apparantly this spooked him pretty good; my money has now been refunded, and the seller told me this morning that he was going to send me the OGPW for free. And here I thought US$5 was a decent price!
Now, to prevent hijacking this thread any further than I already have, I thought that I'd mention a recent "eBay joke"--just a few days ago, I saw a copy of Военная одежда Вооруженных сил СССР и России 1917-1990 (great book on uniform history; thread here) go for US$91. I paid ~480 rubles (about US$17 at the time) just two years ago!

If it's the same group I saw it had a state prize medal and what looked like a Kutuzov third class in it. Also with a type 2 XX year RKKA. If authentic, that would have made 7K a reasonable bargain. If not, yow! I'm a gambler but not that much.
