Two digits even...

And then reapplied the "patina" in a small oval pattern. All that damage to perfectly good awards for some extra cash.

Yeah, you lost me there...but I think I agree.Wink

Let me post this one so I can get it off my desktop. The seller wants $335 or you can make an offer. At best it's an aluminum copy and at worst I've never seen this extremely "rare" award.Rolleyes

Haven't seen it. Gave up on the series at Silence2 (whatever it was called) but maybe I should check this on out.

From IMdB: Plot Summary for
Hannibal Rising (2007) More at IMDbPro »
ad feedbackMischa and Hannibal, baby brother and sister, are inseparable; it is their love for each other that ties their bond. Their companionship is forever binding, until, with their family, while hiding from the Nazi war machine a twisted set of circumstance sets the pace for a most vicious attack on the future of one Hannibal Lecter for the sworn vengeance for the brutal killing of his baby sister.

This is the story of the monster Hannibal Lecter's formative years. These experiences as a child and young adult led to his remarkable contribution to the fields of medicine, music, painting and forensics. We begin in World War II at the medieval castle in Lithuania built by Dr. Lecter's forebear, Hannibal the Grim. The child Hannibal survives the horrors of the Eastern Front and escapes the grim Soviet aftermath to find refuge in France

"0809" - right. This guy is a piece of work. Just because in Russian we see the letter "Ya" as a backward R doesn't mean they just randomly turn numbers (like 9) around. I'm actually surprised he didn't say it was "080P":thumbsdown2

Having seen the movie last week (I like that movie, my gf does not), I remember that the "Victory over Germany" medal is seen, but Red Star - don't recall that one. German awards are shown however, both Iron cross and some badges.

As for the auction - I know for sure no serial number is featured in the movie Big Grin ... so the item in the auction could be just any piece. Scam...

Well, I took a closer look and the only Soviet decorations I could see is a Victory over Germany medal and what appears to be a guards badge, both around 53 minutes into the movie. Now, it should be noted that I do not have the extended version of the movie, just the normal theater version.

I tried to send a question to the seller but for some reason the ask-question form does not work on that page.

That's a new thing on the auction. You have to click on the seller's name while still in the listing and when his/her "store" comes up, click "contact member." The old box will come up and somehow the program "remembers" which item you were on when you clicked on the seller's user name. They've changed just about all of the sellers this way.

If I had to guess, eBay was getting too many complaints from sellers about the number of questions that were either pointless (will you sell for $1?), pranks or something along those lines which could be used against them if sellers didn't spend all of their free time answering questions. This way, you have to be "serious" about asking your question and the seller has less of a chance that someone could accuse him/her of poor communication in the feedback category which asks about that kind of thing.

It's just a theory as to why the change.Smile
