Fake Orders of the Red Banner
#71
It's a good one. Many of these late Red Banners are in mint condition. Could have been awarded in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Revolution in 1967, but it could also be an Afghan War award. In either case it's possible that the order was almost never physically worn.

It may also be the case that this award was never actually issued but lavished in the stores of a particular Unit or regional Commissariat until the fall and then found its way onto the market. It is absolutely amazing what gathers dust on the shelves. I have plenty of stories of my own about such things. The British Army for example is still issuing some pieces of kit produced in 1945.

Only research will tell.

Hello everybody,

another collector offered my a socalled "Duplicate" ORB. But under large magnification it shows his true face: One (the first) digit was drilled out, the depression smoothed and provided with pock marks, scratches, etc. The "Д" looks very convincing; even the dirt/oxide in it`s depressions looks very authentic.

In this case, the D, it is not a duplicate identifier.
I only see a good order, but with the serial deleted, unfortunately...

Hi! What do you mean exactly - is the "D" a maker`s mark!? Or if not - what else?

Thanks.
