Thanks, Paul, I thought so as well, and appreciate your opinion.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is, so I am soliciting second and third opinions of this mint conditioned BAM Medal, including pictures of the "train". . .

Bill, what makes you suspicious? Looks good to me.

Thank you very much, Paul, for taking a look. I was suspicious because I have not seen such a mint conditioned BAM Medal, and it looked too good to be true. Lucky lucky me, it is good!

The BAM Medal, along with other civilian Medals did not always get the same "abuse" as military awards. The BAM Medal is also considerably more recent than the Great Patriotic War and on top of that this example may not have made it off the shelf before the time ran out on the USSR.
You have certainly been finding yourself some nice awards - hopefully nice prices too.

I hadn't thought of those variables.
It's probably a combination of being in the right place at the right time as well as nice prices; the LMD stamp, but I didn't quite get all of it. . .
What about this medal? According to mondvor this ring shouldn't be on this medal. It looks pretty nice apart from that...
And an other medal I find suspicious..
Strange soldier to the ring while it should be made out of one piece?!?

Yes, looks bad to me. Have a look at the disturbed rim reverse.
I have seen this type of faked medal before. The ring is nearly perfect soldered to the medal. You only see some remains of the solder between the ring and the medal body. best regards Andreas |
