Competition time again!
Between now and 1st November this thread will be open to submissions of photographs (or stills from original film reels) of Soviet personnel wearing awards in action. The winner will receive the honorary forum user title "Champion Of The Competition" for a period of six months or if their is a draw all those tied in first place. So what do you have to do to participate and win? Post an image of a Soviet (or Soviets) wearing an award in action (Any Titles, Orders, Medals, Badge or Wound Stripes of any Soviet Republic or All-Union). It can be a single or chest full of awards it doesn't matter but it has to be of the recipient "in action". If they are a recipient of a military award they have to be fulfilling a combat role, if a civilian award they must be "in the field". Pictures of Soldiers on parade, Police walking the streets or Workers without a tool in hand do not qualify. We want to see explosions and dirty hands. An engine driver covered in soot at the footplate or fighter pilot in the air. Recipients of military awards photographed in a civilian role also don't qualify. The recipient has to be doing a similar role to what they have been awarded for. The winner will be the user with the single photograph with the most "likes" when November rolls in. Now the rules; Limit one photograph per post - but you can post as many as you wish. Include as much information as possible - Dates, Places, Names of recipients etc. If you have the citation for the award shown include it with the photograph. People like a good story! No images of the dead or mortally wounded. No watermarked images with the exception of television logos on stills. No "artistic impressions" such as drawings, photoshopping or obvious staging for the press. We all like the "real deal". As the winner is selected by the number of likes received it is completely up to the members of the forum to choose the winner. Can anyone find any images of awards in combat where the opponent is also decorated by their nation? That could be a winning find. The attached image is probably the most famous of "action" but it is lacking awards of any sort so doesn't count towards the competition.

An excellent start! The action is all there. The battery Commander shouting "Enemy spotted! Get yourself moving!" and the gunners hopping to it. Hope the photographer got out of the way before the rounds were fired off.
