Short, concrete description of the personal combat feat or merits:
Comrade Tsevelidze has been serving in the Active Army since August 1941 and has been with the regiment since its formation in June 1942.
He participated in combat near Bryansk, Karachev, Yelets and Voronezh during both the winter campaign of 1942 and the summer campaign of 1943.
In combat he showed himself a brave and courageous Red Army commander, capable of taking initiatives and dedicated to the cause of the liberation of the Soviet motherland.
On August 16, 1943 our aircraft carried out a bombing mission on the foremost enemy defense lines. When our Il-2s were returning after having released their bombs, they were attacked by enemy Me-109 fighters. Comrade Tsevelidze opened fire at the attacking enemy aircraft in a timely manner, and after his third salvo shot down 1 Me-109, which was blocking the flight back of our bombers.
During the same battle on August 16, 1943, enemy aircraft carried out a converging attack on our troops’ combat formations. Warding off the enemy aerial attack under enemy artillery, mortar and machine gun fire, comrade Tsevelidze personally led the artillery fire of his gun and shot down 1 Ju-87.
On October 23, 1943, while covering our returning bombers with artillery fire, he shot down 1 Me-109 through his accurate fire.
All in all, the gun crew under the command of Guards Senior Sergeant Tsevelidze shot down 4 enemy aircraft.
