I believe "4 Army" should be something else like 4 Tank Army, 4 Shock Army, etc.

Here you are, hopefully it will fit: I have heavily cropped it, and am sure it 100% right, the document I son't think however is Russian, I think it is a US Army translation possibly??

It's probably Lieutenant-General Nikonor Dmitriyevich Zakhvatayev, commander of the 4th Guards Army at that time.

Thats what I was thinking, they were both stationed in Linz at the same time (319th and the 4th Guards Army).

Do you have any info on Lieutenant-General Nikonor Dmitriyevich Zakhvatayev?

Failing to do so decreases your credibility, is unproductive for discussion's purposes, and in my humble opinion shows disdain towards this site's subscribers.

To all:

Since none of the forum's research experts has stepped up to the plate over these many months, here is a bit to chew on - evidence that is. Enjoy.

Nice - what's the attribution?

For those that can't read it, it's a description of airborne troopers being awarded combat decorations for Hungary, including decorations we know were awarded for Hungary (HSU, RB, Nevsky, RS, BM) and one Glory.

I thought you had a citation from Korea? Last time I checked Hungary is a long way from Korea.

Paul,

It also happens to be later than Korea. I still maintain that OG3 were given out for the Soviet-Chinese border incident in the 1960's.

desantnik,

The critical element is the Ukaz information. I prefer not to disclose the attribution given intended use in a pending published work. As for the Korea awarding, I'm also holding that information in reserve for the reason cited in my earlier post. In any event, we have yet further confirmation of awarding of the Order of Glory for post-Great Patriotic War military action.
