Thanks for the additional photos. I still am convinced this tunic came from a certain online "Auctions" house and I would not be comfortable with agreeing with the sellers description of what it is. However, that is just my personal opinion.

Front pocket and better shoulder board pic.

Also i did not buy this online I bought it from a private collector who will give money back ASAP if proven fake.

I have for a long bought alot of medals and documents from him with no problems, good prices and no fakes. So if it is a fake I wont have to worry about getting my money back:)

And thanks for all the help an interest, if have learned so much from buying this and this thread. Thanks again for all the expertise and I hope the pictures help
with determining its authenticity:thumbsup

I think I made the mistake by saying NKVD I think he said late 40s early 50's ahh i cant remember let me try and call him and find out wait he called it

Didn't NKVD gymnasterkas have external pockets which differentiated them at a glance from those of all the other corps...

By regulation, NKVD gymnasterka were supposed to have pleated patch pockets - but of course, the exception perhaps was the rule.

IMO that is...

BTW, the buttons that secure the shoulder-boards are German made - if that is any help...

In regulations up until 1956 officers of NKVD/MVD/MGB were portrayed with external pockets, and on photographs they do the same.
