Supposedly a somewhat rare piece. According to Mondvor, only a few examples have been observed.

Last offer - a modest $750

(saw it on a russian forum site)

I'm jealous. I like the guy's picture in the book. :)

Any idea what he did to earn the award?

No, not without researching him and only if it was a military award and not a civilian one. Judging by the photo, it was probably a civilian award and as of now, not researchable. Maybe in the future.

And here is my 1st Order of Lenin, a T6V2, according to PMD or a T6V2S1 (as discussed on another thread apparently the lowest S/N for this Var/SubVar), according to the Mondvor site.
Anyway, a very nice piece, in fact much nicer live than it appears on the scans!
Unfortunatelly no Award booklet, so if by any chance anyone has or finds it, please let me know. Thanks in advance. S/N: 390971

Dolf

PS: I've noticed it happens when I scan pieces with gold, that most of the time there are strange light effects on the scans! Any suggestion of how to avoid this strange effect? Thanks.

Thanks Rusty ;)

By the way, I'm not sure but I believe there are some letters (?) or scratches (?) on the right side of the obverse (as we look at the Medal), can you notice them on this pic? What could that be?!... Thanks.

Thanks Danny.
Well, no Doc and all as yours :( but still an impressive piece when holding it on the hands or just watching it on it's display, I guess you know the feeling, right? Kind of a mythic feeling, and a lot of respect, see what I mean... After all he (Lenin) started the all thing... ;)

Yours is also a beautiful Var. 1!

Sending you a PM.

Dolf
