The seller states that he is "one of the only 6 jewish Generals - Heroes of the Soviet Union! "

I don't have all the books at hand now, but I almost positive that there were MANY more.

Tal,

I am not sure either, however I think he is right.
He means 6 Generals, but not Heros of SU. BTW, on the same he provides list of Jewish HSU. It's much more than 6! Smile
The possibility that there was only 6 Jewish Generals is high. It was not easy for Jewish person to become a General in former Soviet Union. Cry

305 Jewish Generals and Admirals served in the Red Army during thw period of 1941-1945, acording to the book "Jewis generals in the Soviet army in WW2" by Sverdlov.

... and how many were HSU ?
#6
According to the information I have:
2 times HSU: 1. Boris Volinov; 2. David Dragynskiy; 3. Rodion Malinovskiy; 4. Yakov Smushkevich.
HSU - 143.
Hero of Russia - 4.

Tal,
May be the author means that there were 6 Jewish Generals AND HSU at the same time?

The question is this - are the lists refers to Jewis generals who - while generals - got HSU?

2. Matvei Vinrob Gregorovich
3. Yefim Anatolyevich Diskin
4. David Abramovich Dragunski (Twice HSU)
5. Yakov Ilich Vernikov
6. Boris Davidovich Lev
7. Yakov Davidovich Smushkevich (Twice HSU)
8. Laventy Zacharovich Kotliar
9. Vladimir Konstantinovich Konovalov
10. Zinovy Abramovich Kontsevoy

All the above were GENERALS during GPW. I am POSITIVE that there are more Jewish generals who were HSU, but promoted to General after the GPW.

Tal,

Thank you. It's great information. Very interesting list. It means that the information of the dealer is not correct.
Anyway, even there are more than 6 Jewish Genarls HSU, the awards of Lieutenant-General and HSU Vainrub M.G. are great and very rare.
I would like to know how much it might cost? (more than $500,000.00 or less)? Big Grin

that's not exactly correct. Most of them became generals after GPW. The same time Smushkevich and Shtern became HSU before GPW and were executed in fall of 1941.
