Please review the information found in the following link to an older forum thread that addressed just this topic:

hello, the second pair shown in this linked thread is also a problem: where does it come from? what is the source of the pictures? All these infos aren't said, and in my opinion the boards are as scientifically discutable as the ones shown by Grenouillet .
I believe the boards shown by Grenouillet are very used.
I do not know any soviet silver bullion that wasn't used by sixty yearsof air oxydation, and we all see the wheat gerbs oxyded (the gerbs at the top of the coat of arms and the begening of the sewn gerbs at the very bottom of the coat of arms).
I'd like more precise photos of the silver gerbs, and one photo of the 11th ribbon...

no more arguments?
I find dommageable for all collectors that a guy try here to post hi-res photos and that almost nobody discuss them. In another topic one congratulates each others about visor cap cheap pictures....
I believe I didn't understand the rules here... :(

Sebastien,
Yes, I find it rather sad too, as you mentioned, that when a member decides to show some high-end items from his collection, investing time and effort to document it all for the benefit of fellow collectors, no one seems to care.
It also disturbs me that almost matter-of-factedly "established" members at once tend to infer foul play on those high-end items. I may not be one of the "superstars" here, but I've had the chance to handle (I could almost say fondle ;)) quite a few top-end items, even if I did not necessarily sell any - thus not receiving proverbial plebeian recognition.
Michel (Grenouillet) was kind enough to open his closet to my eager eyes and hands. He collects only Soviet marshal uniforms, and owns simply an amazing collection, selected for GENUINENESS and quality. The fact that he is a low-key, quiet member of this forum, and that he acquired these pieces from his own sources, and not from plebeian-recognized sources, does not lower either his merit or the originality of his holdings.
IMHO, he is one of the very few people in the world who can sort out the original from the fake when it comes to Soviet Marshal's stuff.

I am not sure what the problem is here, other than to let those that have an ax to grind, grind it (good job, big help as always).
The boards are a nice worn set of Marshal USSR M1943 boards...ok, what else should we say? Good photos? Nice color? What?
Another member did mention that he did not like the quality of at least part of the board but then did not follow through much more than that. It does not mean he is done doing so, but if he is, that's up to him. He posted pics of another set of boards that he likes, so I don't think he was that vague about his point of view, even if its not accepted.
As for the cap, it garners more interest than boards...so what. No great conspiracy about it (or who the items are from, notwithstanding the silly ideas of some)...if you are confused about the rules of the forum let me know, but basically you post your item, get some comments (sometimes not; there are posts out there of very nice stuff that got one or maybe no comments), and thats it...you don't get to control who comments or how many, or what said, within reason. There was no question asked on the first post, just the boards...that leaves it open.
It's interesting that one of the people here who is commenting on such a thing does it on so many other posts; uses really vague comments, questions, 'implies things', and then has a problem when he tinks its done here! Ha! Interesting!
Any more questions? I am still not sure what the original problem is, but feel free to be more specific.

I tend to respect Slava's opinions, and I hope he'll take some time to detail its opinion for all of us and me especially. The boards shown on this topic are interesting because we can discuss precisely on the basis of really detailled pictures...

I hope it is not me targeted here ;) if yes, please PM me...

marc,
no, its not you who do this, the person who does do it has been talked to...i actually hope you will post more here! Your posts are usually well thought out (though not a great idea to say another post is crap; hope that was just an idea lost in translation).
As for this thread, I think there would be a lot more posts on it IF there was real debate on the boards being real...the boards have condition issues (which is ok) but I do not think authenticity issues. I think if there was really something Slava saw that he did not like in the detail shots there would be a follow up.
Often when a nice high end item is posted, people will visit it, but not leave many comments (what to say?). The hat thread involves a few guys, a few of whom were involved in a deal to get the very rare hat, and know each other, so there is going to be that sort of banter...it has nothing to do with this thread and really should not be brought into this thread other than to serve as more fodder for those with some sort of personal issues to work out.

OK, the issues seem to have been smoothed out a bit (those that don't involve feelings of persecution); if anything is not clear, please PM me, but lets bring the focus of this thread back to the boards themselves.

Hello,
I would love to be able to comment on these boards. My problem is that I have only seen two sets of marshal's boards in person and do not have the expertise to add an educated comment.
This thread is one the reasons I come here - to hear collectors/dealers with more experience then I have talk about things as rare as these boards.
The next time I get a chance to see, touch, study a marshal's board I will be looking at the things brought up in this post (as well as other posts).
For me this is a great learning experience so that when I do have a chance to get a marshal's uniform I will know what to look for and what not to look for. Thanks to everyone who, via this forum, help educate me and allow me to enjoy this hobby more. Regards, Clete

Hello Dear collector friends.
It´s been awhile since I posted due to that it´s not very much marshals stuff around from the war in the forum. The market has dried up pretty much but I would like to comment.
I like the boards. The gerb seems ok but is very well worn. This is odd since I´ve seen quite many of this boards and usually only one or to threads on the globe is worn away.
My biggerst issue is the background gold threat. There are nearly no pattern in the goldbackground usually seen on marshals boards. This cant be worn away. It´s very distinctive in the pattern. I don´t konow if it´s because of much patina or if it is in the pics. My feeling of this boards is that of some of Dougs previously shown prototype boards. There are the more plain gold wireing with not soo much pattern.
My before seen boards don´t have the amount of wear to them and I don´t think a marshal would have worn the boards for so long before getting them replaced.
My two kopecs
Best

The gold thread on the boards is patterned. Jpg compression of the scans resulted in a mozaique-like result that looks somewhat unusual.
These boards are regular ones in my opinion, and not pattern/experimental ones as you suggested.
