M1955 Uniforms and Insignia!
#51
A nice shot, but is the collar insignia crossed artillery? If so, should he not be 'black collared' ?

I´d say it´s not an M55, but the model used before it (M54 if I recall correctly.)
There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

The Who, Won't get fooled again

Ok, Interesting; what can we look for to see the difference?

Wasn't the M54 marshals and generals only?

Or are you referring to the M49 (which had collar tabs with button and insigna?)

Nope, I´m not refering to the M49.

I say M54 was almost identical to the M55 except for the lapels and the distance between button rows. Of course, this is what I think based on the photos and the M55 uniform I owe and others I´ve seen personally. I do not intend to challenge anyone here on their opinions.

Here it is. You can see the wider space between the vertical rows and the 90º lapel cut.

Esteban,

I can't seem to remember a M54 regulation change...

Neither do I, but I really thought it existed due to the evidence I´ve seen...:(
But then, why did you list that uniform as M54?

Relating to the post that started this page of the thread, here is an example I had quite a few years ago...crossed cannon, no black collar.

A very sad example of the M1955 officers tunic.
