:) Dolf,
I think that's a good bet.
Unfortunatly I haven't found a great deal of infos as yet on Cuban Orders and medals. I seem to remember reading that the soldiers that fought in Angola and in other African countries were never officialy recognised, it seems strange that they awarded this and the International Fighters Medal to those troops that served there. There is a lot to be researched on this countries awards and the award system.
Any additional info and pics would be much welcome.
Eddie.

Awarded in recognition of the outstanding attitude maintained during the fulfillment of the International mission asked of them, in defense of the revoulutionary conquests in Angola and in the interest of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

General Espinosa was awarded the medal of Hero of the Republic of Cuba on January 1st, 1989. His participation in the difficult campaign in Angola probably won him that medal. In December 1989, Espinosa was one of the first to receive the military medal "Por la Victoria Cuba-Angola," awarded to all veterans of the war.
