Any reason to doubt the entries?
These are the only images I have.

Hello,

I would like to intruduce myself. I live in the Seattle area and have been a history buff for years. My main area of interest is in the Easern front during WWII. This lead me to start collecting medals and awards some time ago. Up until now I have been collecting only german awards from this time period and although I love the hobby I have found it very frustrating at times due to so many fakes out there (I am sure some of you can relate). Anyhow through my collecting I recently came into possesion of this award booklet for OPW1 & 2. I would like to offer my input before asking a couple questions.

1) Coming from the german collecting field I am fascinated with the serial numbered awards.

2) I was suprised at how inexpensive the award documents were (award documents of german militaria sometimes are as expensive as the awards themselves.

3) I believe that THE most important part of any collection are the reference books / materials. I try to aquire as many books as I can to take on the vast amount of fakes in this hobby. I have already ordered The Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders and Medals by: Paul McDaniels and Paul Schmitt.

4) I have found this site to be a blessing as I have learned much but still have so much to learn.

Anyways I wondered what was the opinion of this award booklet for OPW1 & 2? All things point to it being authentic but truth be told I really don't know what I am looking for (award # bleaching and any other means of making an item more valueable)

All input is appreciated as I cannot read any russian. Even the name of the award recipient would be of great help. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Hi there!

name is Bozhkov, Andrej Andreevich.

I like the booklet but this is just my opinion. The ultimate say would be to research the group! If you want to do so contact our member Nota Bene.

J Free - if you feel flush with bucks and don't mind not having the actual orders in hand, you can shoot this over to Note Bene along with something like $95 via paypal, and he can probably get you the AC and citations in one to four weeks. Then you'd pick up a bunch of supporting info on the award and dude himself. I don't believe he charges if the doc turns out to be bad. Likely it's good, so at least you'd have a good story with your missing orders. :)

Welcome to the forum.

The document appears good and according to my information, both awards were granted by the Southern Front in mid- to late 1943.

As Kirchgoens mentioned, the awards can be researched by serial number, but can be expensive. Unless you are really curious, I would recommend only researching awards that you own, and not just award documents.

Thank you for the replies. To be honest I picked this one up just so I could get a better idea of what I was looking for. My first piece of russian militaria is going to be a ORS with the award booklet. This piece was just very inexpensive and I wanted something I could use as a reference.

Thanks again,

Jeff

Here's the first one. A wonderful Orders booklet dated 44/47. It looks like he won a CSM and something I can't identify.
If this is good could someone help with the name and the awards please?
My only doubts are the really light areas just above the rust stains by both of the staples. They look awfully bleached out.

The second one; a nice Medals Booklet. This one is definitely a CSM and is dated 45/46.
BTW, these wartime era booklets all have state seal and the same signature. Who's signature is it and what's his position? TIA.
