With a little (very little) nudge from our man in the Caucasus I have become very interested to buy trans-caucasus items. Station to station!

Tretov Wrote:...Just owning the paper photo does not mean you automatically own the copyright. This is very true. For instance, buying a picture in an art gallery does not give you copyright on it. Tretov Wrote:...I would also like to hear the reason Slava 1 Class keep adding his watermark to photos and I do not see how the collecting community would benefit from this. Wouldn't we all... Tretov Wrote:...In my humble opinion, it would have been better and more useful to add the text "From the collection of X" so that anyone who is interested in further information knows who to contact rather than just a cryptical sl1c. It would also make it obvious that the photo itself is in a collection and thus the owner of the photo does not necessarily want it to be spread without a linkback to the source. I totally agree with Tretov, this is the proper way to do things when you are NOT the legal holder of the copyright, which happens to be exactly the case with all the pictures posted by Slava. vvadim_ Wrote:...And let me reassure you, Slava1class does not own images he posted on this forum or offering for sale. As we all know, all these pictures are in the public domain. Marc

At this point those who have wished to express their opinion on this legitimate issue of photos, ownership, etc. have done so. No forum member can be forced to answer any questions they do not want to, so we need to let it go. If the forum member wishes to respond, he may choose to do so or not do so.
This thread needs to return to the original topic; please refrain from any more off topic posts here (starting a thread on the issue of public domain/ photo ownership in the General Talk section would be perfectly fine). This goes for all threads where this issue has been brought up. ***If you have any further questions about this topic please use PM to either myself or Art."*** DougD Moderator

Gents,
Although not particularly noteworthy in terms of his awards and decorations, a nice image of a Guards company-grade officer. Regards, slava1stclass |
