Please Vote on Rearrangement of Soviet Bloc section!

I do not feel Mongolia should be included here. It simply doesn't belong.

So with the "Empire" stuff and other post April revolution pre-communist states where are we going? Some of the nations made little in the way of shiny portable awards but all of them were either at war or producing awards in numbers during their existence so all of these sections if not having pictures of awards will at least be able to present images and information on their military history if not anything else.

Democratic Republic Of Armenia 1918-1921
Azerbaijan Democratic Republic 1918-1920
Belarusian People's Republic 1918-1919
Republic Of Estonia 1918-1940
Democratic Republic Of Georgia 1918-1921
Republic Of Latvia 1918-1940
Republic Of Lithuania 1918-1940
Mongolia 1911-1924
Russian Empire
-Russian Orders
-Russian Medals
-Russian Badges
-Russian Uniforms
White Russia 1917-
Ukrainian People's Republic 1918-1921

Possible candidates for inclusion here would include Poland 1918-1939 (An imperial Russian "Kingdom" only to become a Soviet Satellite) and Bulgaria 1878-1944 as after being liberated by Russia from the Ottomans, placed a Russian prince in power (not that he lasted too long) and their awards were also heavily based on Russian awards. The two countries have always had strong ties and a similar language. During German aggression towards the USSR from 1941-1944 Bulgaria also refused to declare war on their "Liberators".

There is also the issue of the "Russian Liberation Army" and the "Ukrainian Insurgent Army" and other things not presenting themselves to me presently.

Wouldn't the intervention of Mad Von Ungern-Sternberg and then Bolshevik intervention during the Bogd Khan put Mongolian under greater Russian/Soviet influence than Qing/Chinese influence prior to the declaration of the People's Republic?
There's plenty of post Qing pre-MPR history to bring to the forum out there.

From the declaration of independence (1911) until the 1921 revolution, Mongolia was under Chinese domination, if anything. The effort to seek external allies (Japan, the USA, and Russia/the USSR) was a conscious effort to counter-balance the Chinese grasp. Even after WWII, Taiwan (and even China) still maintained claims to Mongolia and control over part of it (as China does today).

Sounds like a Mongolia 1921-24 section rather than the earlier date in the previous post. The "mad baron" can go in the "whites" section.

In any case, Mongolia does not belong in this section, regardless of the dates.

The "Mad Baron" was just another insane White and belongs nowhere. In any case, he awarded no medals.

The Order of the Vajra continued to be awarded until ca. 1925, even after the monks had been swept away.

The Austrian born Baron was awarded five Imperial Russian Orders although he is usually only seen wearing one at a time. He certainly did some gallivanting before his death aged 35.

Before anyone suggests Soviet (and other "Foreign") volunteers in the Waffen-SS - it is a negative as the Waffen-SS was purely German force acting on German orders. The Russian Liberation Army, which although was a contemporary and co-belligerent force, is not so black and white.

I am now going to start preparing for the "big move" in the "Bloc". Some thread names will be renamed to include a number at the start of it. There's no mystical meaning to this other than which of the new sub-forums it will be relocated in. "Fail to plan and plan to fail".

A greater majority of threads will be unaffected. Business as usual.

Once again, I am a bit confused here. So what about places such as Khorezm, Bukhara (pre-revolution emirate, revolutionary) and the like?

I agree. This is pretty confusing. Strange inclusions and exclusions.

Not that it is in any way done "right", but a glance at the structure over here

might help?

A Khanate Of Khiva 1873-1920 and Emirate Of Bukhara 1873-1920 section will be added to the list. Don't forget to post all your Khanate and Emirate awards there!
