Lapa Wrote:Sergei,In nice condition with probably the orginal screwplate. A keeper, IMHO. Sergei Wrote:I was also curious about this one. Is it supposed to be numbered? :weird Lapa Wrote:Yes, it is.Another nice example. Sports badges are not very sexy to most, but anything hand engraved would be dispalyed in a prominent spot in my collection. Of that I have no doubt. Sergei Wrote:Thanks, Eric,It does have the 50s/60s-style pin, plus the MMA mintmark as well as a nice, silver patina. But short of wading through A8 tonight I cannot say more. Considering the rest of that collection I'd be surprised if this was not kosher.

It certainly is a jumble of badges to start getting acquainted with the Soviet badge world.:)
Sports (competition) badges, blood donor badges and even a "Soldier Internationalist" badge (for service abroad, but especially common for Afghanistan veterans) and an MVD "excellent propagandist" medal/badge is an interesting group. Come to think of it, I never did find out a solid answer about why the MVD gave out that award, to whom and for what - exactly. It sort of reminds me of the KGB "laureate" award (one which I have been search for since I focused my collecting on the KGB/MVD a few years ago). Phillip
