Lapa Wrote:Doug,

The 1946/7 bit comes from the previous owner. When I got this uniform, he explained that this was a variety of embroidery that had been proposed just after then end of the war in an attempt to lower their cost of production. But, as was fairly usual then (and still is today), the "lower cost" item ended up costing as much as the original while not improving markedly the looks. So, in the end, it was decided to stay with the original M45 pattern.

This is parade uniform for soviet military attaché in 1952 – 1954.

Hello Vvadim,
Was this uniform also worn by officers other than generals?
Concerning special uniforms for military attaches, I remember at the middle of the Eighties (I was 15-16 years old) of a military event in Brussels and the tribune was full of attaches. I’m sure that the soviet one wore a double-breasted tunic, may be with laurels at the sleeves, but not like generals, more M55 or honour guard. It was a lt.-colonel if I remember well. Have you any information about this uniform?

To all:

Here is an example of the M1945 VP uniform wide laurel leaf cuff embroidery as seen in a rare color photograph. Suffice it to say the wearer is a well known figure and HSU.
