Red Star.
I know this vendor and have seen this Red Star. It is good. The damage is all the more tragic, especially for a later (1954) issued/awarded Red Star. . .

I'd be happy to home it or similar any time. It's good that it's not going to do the rounds as "Stalingrad Combat Damaged" etc.

In fact I'd even take them with the arms missing let alone the enamel.

Anyone know what happened to this one?

1954 long service for sure, possibly MVD long service.

Apologies for the far from great picture.

The serial number engraving on the first makes me uncomfortable.

What do you think?

They both look fine. The first example is an MZPP variant with its characteristic "sloppy" serial number engraving, for example, see below. . .

A reissued Temporary Certificate for an Order of the Red Star, #1504558, initially awarded to Ivan Konstantinovich Chagrinets(?) by the 243rd Rifle Division on December 8th, 1944. This Order of the Red Star was then conferred July 27th, 1945, with this document being issued sometime in October, 1945. The recipient served as a Scout in the Reconnaissance Company of the 243rd Rifle Division. The document was signed by the Division Commander, Colonel Sagitov.

My thanks to desantnik for his invaluable assistance!

The scans don't do this Order of the Red Star, #439277, justice, but the deep red hue and luster of the enamel is breathtaking. . . Sadly, no research is available. . . Photographs/scans used with permission. . .
