Russian Federation Reference Materials

[Mahdi]

This may be slightly off-topic, but I was wondering if anyone came across good reference books or booklets for modern Russian awards?

[Eugene]

There is one. Russian text. It's called exactly "Awards of modern Russia". If you are intersted, I can get you a copy.

If Eugene is refering to this book, it's highly recommended:

[Tal Inbar]

A detailed guide to the cloth sleeve insignia of modern Russian forces. English and Russian text. Softcover 48 pages. This is an authoritative guide to wide array of sleeve patches now being worn by the Russian army, including airborne troops, naval infantry, and strategic rocket forces.

Over 100 specimens shown in detailed black and white illustrations. The captions are in English and identify the unit represented by the insignia.

RUSSIAN FEDERATION DECORATIONS.1991-1999

by M.FURLAN,"Militaria House,Toronto.Canada.
1999
Text in English,
64 pages.

White and black photographs of all Russian military and civilian orders and medals as of 1999. Also includes number of pieces issued and other interesting information.

SOFT COVER.

I have this booklet, and it is part of the "home made" references. It has many mistakes, and information that was availeble in 1999 is not included.

There are most of the Umalatova medals there. It is low price item, and the only one in English, so you could decide if you want it.
