Could be worse, imagine if they had used "texting" language.

Is this the correct sentence?

"23.6.44 в с Пустынники принимал активное участие в захвате самоходного орудия противника"

Hermit.JPG

Would be a good translation, Пустынники seems to be desert and hermit?!

Thanks!

It's a noun. There are 3 such villages in the Russian Federation currently.

So what you're looking for is Pustynniki.

Thank you, Ctahhr.

One last line if you don't mind!

This one has confused me

24.6.44 со своим отделением занял соло нижняя гряда???

On 24.6.44 with his department took a solo lower ridge...

It's the "solo" that i think could be wrong. How can he take a ridge solo with his department?

It could be selo or solo. His unit could have taken a single lower ridge or a village on a lower ridge. I think a solo ridge. It could have been there was only a single ridge in the location like a "lone outcrop".

It's selo, the village of Nizhnyaya Grada. Otdeleniye means squad.

Yes, it is definitely selo. The difference between selo and the village is in the presence of a church. There is a church in selo, and there is no curch in the village. In Soviet times they used Selsoviets (rural councils) instead of churches.
