Glory.

To all:

No disagreement here as semantics is one thing and published evidence is entirely another.

I tend to support Slava on this one. I have come across evidence (ukaz) of Order of Glory being awarded for the border incidents with China in 1968 (if I remember the date properly). On that same action, the platoon sargent got a HSU.

According to "Mondvor" website, many privates and sergeants were awarded Glory for supressing "anti-revolutionary rebellion" in Hungary in 1956. In 7th Guards Airborne Division alone, 245 soldiers got Glory III.

I believe that. There were Nevsky orders given to officers for Hungary, why not Glories for soldiers?

If there is any evidence of any Glories awarded for action in Afghanistan, I would love to see it, but untill than...

Like desantnik said... "Show me the money..." There are lots of CLAIMS about Glory 3rds being awarded after WW2, but I haven't yet found one after researching 100+ Glory 3rds and I haven't seen any documentation for one. Perhaps they were, but until someone can cough up the actual research (and show photocopies, rather than a text "excerpt") and show it to the public, I don't believe it.

I'm not hard-headed about this, but when no one that is one of the "main" researchers (to include The Researcher) has ever seen a citation come back for one post-WW2, I tend to have my doubts.

When someone presents the evidence and it's bona-fide, I will believe.

Semantics and published evidence aside, surely a man of your status and profession recognizes the need to back up spectacular claims with evidence, especially when it is so readily available at your fingertips.

Failing to do so decreases your credibility, is unproductive for discussion's purposes, and in my humble opinion shows disdain towards this site's subscribers.

Wasn't the Order of Glory instituted specifically for the Great Patriotic War, and the statutes spell this out?

Orders of Glory for the Hungarian action would be like handing out OGPW's for deeds entirely unrelated to that war.

I stand corrected ... the statute for the Order of Glory does not specify a particular war, just specific qualifying deeds.
