Red Banner.
I don't know if you guys noticed on the homepage that Art added a picture of an Order of the Red Banner Type 2, Variation 2, 2nd award. Anyway, it's mine and I'd thought I'd post the thumbs here in case anyone was interested and missed it. (Obviously you can see the ones Art posted too).
I hope this isn't forum faux pas or anything. But I thought people might be curious to see.

Cheers,
Kurt

Hi all,

Can anybody explain to me why the ORB is sold for over $600 these days and the Orders of Labour Glory for about $70. This while there are just as many made of (apx 600000/700000).

Name: ****** Michael Ivannovich
Service Rank: Political Instructor ... Comissar
DOB: 1910
Nationality: Russian
Join the Red Army: 1941
Military Commitee: Nebilovsky Military Commitee
Home Address: Ivanovsky, Nebilsky Region, Andreevskoe Villiage

Account Citation:
In combat for the village of Romanov (Romanovo) he showed (displayed) bravery and courage conducting soldiers into the attack. Destroyed the sniper point of the enemy. (This was translated for me by 2 Russians so there 'sniper point' could possibly be 'strong point' or something else)

Worth of rewarding the Order of the red Banner.

Signed: CommanderMAJ Golovin (Glovan)
Military Comissar - Krilov

This guy also served with the editorial staff of the newspaper "Let Us Destroy the Enemy" and the newspaper "Soviet Warrior".

Also awarded the Medal for the Defence of Moscow, Capture of Konigsberg, and Victory over Germany...in addition to the this Red Bannder, Red Star and OPW 2nd Cl.

Maybe this "sniper point" is exactly what the name suggests, a place where snipers were shooting from. Taking out something like that definitely deserves a red banner!

Actually, I just made this mistake with one of my research requests. I asked for Order of the Red Banner #109,668 instead of the one I have, #109,558
