I found this snippet of information that I think supports my belief;
February-March 1945 - Moscow Mint 1.023.000 - 1.790.000 March-June 1945 - Platinapribor Moscow Factory - 1.790.000 - 1.950.000 September 1945 - Moscow Mint - 1.950.000 - 2.050.000 September 1945 - Platinapribor Moscow Factory - 2.050.000 - 2.500.000 I really should spend some money on good research books.. Ah ha! my contacts :D I have a friend living in Tiraspol who works everyday in Odessa and holidays in Crimea, he pointed me in the right direction. I didn't know that Ukraine had the same embargo on cultural exports until the deal was one and paid for...doh! I had an anxious month as they arrived 2 by 2 under the customs radar :thumbsup

Yeah, I just learned the same thing when some MOOP service medals arrived very well hidden in a "special" package that took me about 20 minutes to figure out where the buggers were hidden (and another 20 minutes to get them free of it). The guy who sold them to me couldn't risk describing how to find or retreive them, but at least they were there.:thumbsup
You know, it's a separate topic, but I imagine the embargo has a good deal to do with the last price spike. Just an unsubstantiated thought. Enjoy your new babies, Phillip

I'm fairly confident these awards were granted by the 3 Belorussian Front or its subordinate units. The award and booklet are good, with possibly one exception. I don't have as confident feeling about the Order of Lenin stamp and think it may have been added years later by forgers - has anyone else seen such a verified stamping?

The Order of Lenin stamp threw me off also. We all know that sometimes forgers "add" awards to award books and for some reason, this struck me as odd too but who knows? It could possibly be a valid awarding of the Order of Lenin but as I am no expert in documents, I couldn't say. It just struck me odd like desantnik.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to have research done. That would settle the matter.
I've never heard of an order coming in a box. My wife's grandfather was awarded the red star. I was told that his group was absolutely complete and it did not include a box. A wicked nice touch though!

Is that an Order of the Patriotic War in 2nd Class listed as well?
