Hello Paul,

which ones do you think are fake ?

Thank you,

Jens

Doesn't the entire booklet become bad by even a single fake entry? A shame these scum have to spoil nice things with fake entries.

And, is it just me, but isn't there a recent flood of these things? Though some seem to be the same bad ones coming up again and again.

A more detailed image for examination...

Thank you,

I would like to, but does it fit to the forum`s rules to tell names, websites, etc. ?

I just want to avoid a trial...

Jens, that's a good question. I know we are not supposed to name anyone on ePay because of some sort of "peace accord" after a number of sellers were "outed" and cried that the forum was hurting their business (which personally, I think someone should;)). The way I understand it is that we provide opinions based on observations and don't necessarily have "evidence" to support accusations. That would be the domain of consumer advocate groups.

In short, I think the answer is no, we can't name them in a thread, but you can certainly PM anybody you want with that kind of information.:)

We should hang on until a moderator confirms this, in my opinion.

For my part, I get a little wary when I see anything hand-written for high orders like a Lenin. If I were a betting man, I would venture to say that the first two entries were the only real ones.

The photo also bothers me a bit because it looks like someone was trying to make it look old by assuming that people born before the 1980s were somehow incapable of placing a small rectangular picture within the lines of the larger rectangular lines on the page.:chuckle

@Art,

ok, I will avoid telling that stuff here.

But by the way: The item is for sale on E*** AGAIN, so everyone should be able to get his information about the seller`s name, etc. by himself...

Same fake booklet on epay again as of 5/4, marked down from $198.00
to $168.30 and 17 days and counting. This is such a bold faced fake, I can't believe there would be anyone gullible enough to buy it!
HSU #6121 was awarded to a guy named Mikhail Putilin on 29.6.45. There is no Zbanackiy Afanasiy Andreevich listed in the encyclopedia of USSR Heroes.
The seller just got an order booklet, pasted some guy's photo in it, and added the Lenin & HSU awards.

If you are a neophyte, it just pays to have the 2-volume set of HEROES OF THER SOVIET UNION, and the publications which lists all HSU and Cavalier Orders of Glories. The last 2 booklets were gifts to me from a contact in Moscow and I don't know who is selling them in the US. And best of all,
there are always collectors on this forum willing to help you out.

BTW, don't you wonder about the guy on epay from Cyprus selling some pretty high end awards? Never buy medals from China; they have master craftsmen faking collectibles...including US Morgan Silver Dollars, gold coins, etc. Stick to the reputible dealers here...they are very careful about buying fakes themselves because it affects their reputation and business.

Any opinions on this one ?
