Hi Andreas, definitely a :thumbsdown
One thing about Soviet-ear documents is also a certain handwriting style. Now, there was plenty of sloppy handwriting but also there's a permissible range of shapes and slants that's to be expected for a 1940s document.. This could be an interesting study unto itself, probably already done somewhere... The handwriting, specifically in the date, (and how the ink permeated the paper) looks like a modern job. :thumbsdown
Here's a horribly fake Hero booklet I owned for about 5 minutes before returning it for a refund. :thumbsdown There's no excuse for mine even buying it--I'll claim I was away from the computer, away from my Red Bible, and bidding on an auction on my phone. Anyway, behold this beauty. :)
1. For how obvious this fake is, someone actually took some effort to make it look real. The photo looks a little like the fighter ace Valentin Figichev. The citation and award dates are correct per the "Heroes of the SU" reference.
2. The handwriting is missing the careful style of most of these. The curve of the letters also shows that it's a crass, modern job. The Kalinin signature looks bad.
3. Incidentally, the handwriting is exactly the same as seen on another fake document, one ph3s was selling with full disclosure here: FS-Best $: a copy of HSU - The Soviet Military Awards Page Forum
4. The seal of the USSR has too many republics for 1944. :laff
These pages were glued together. A "Goznak 1947" footnote on what's supposed to be a 1944 doc. :o
