that is a pricy one, main is an older version of 1.3MP and cheaper, but i'm happy

I have no idea how ebay sellers do it or if they even make money, but a similar 2.0mp with 8 leds and 25-400X is $40.85 delivered to Australia !

I might get one of these as well I might eventually end up knowing something

Thanks Eric. The only downside to all this really closeup viewing is finding defects. However, in the case of verdigris, neatness is not the factor in question, it is catching a problem that could lead to permanent damage to the award so the sooner I can catch it, the happier I am.

We may end up with a section (or group of threads at least) just for cool devices that only a few people know about but could benefit many of the folks here. Anything allowing for really clear magnified images of any awards is of use to everyone (in my opinion at least) and everytime I check out one of these links others are posting I find myself just browsing through the items for sale for way longer than I have time for.

The bottom line is I am thrilled at the notion of being able to get quality tight images for the rest of the forum members which I think will help make spotting fakes easier for us all.
