OPW2 and Bravery medal 1949

Here is another group I just got. It consists of a OGPW2 s/n 164675 and bravery medal 884844 (? maybe the engraver only had two stamps...). The document came with it. It is a hard cover booklet dated 1947. I find strange the color of the ink used for all handwritings.

Looking forward for your comments,
ciao
sergio

This set could be valid, but on initial examination I don't like the appearance of the award stamps or the ink used in the written entries.

Sergio,

I concur with Paul. I think that the original entries were bleached out and new ones made up. The only way to tell for sure would be to order the Uchotnaya Kartochka.

Uh? Kartochka should mean "french fries", at least this was the case when I was in Baikonur....:D

I understand that the color of the ink is unusual, but I have (posted) other awards of campaign medals where a light blue color was used as well. True is that it is the first time I see it on this type of booklets.

Once again, thank you for the given support.:thumbsup

Sergio,

The Uchotnaya Kartochka is a document which gives information about a person, including all the awards that he received.

Your confusion may arise because of both the stress on the words and the similarity of the "sh" and "ch" shound. Kartoshka is a "potato". Kartochka is a "card" (the stress is on the bolded letters).

You are asking for a free evaluation from members who have seen hundreds (thousands)? of these documents. Two of us, based only upon your photos and our experience, have given you an evaluation. Yes, blue ink was used, but this example just doesn't look right.

We could be wrong, but you have to weigh our free evaluation against your spending a hard-earned $300+ on the set and research. I invite you to seek advice elsewhere, test your luck by purchasing the set, paying for research, then either being disappointed or proving us wrong. Either option you'll be adding to your own experience (and possibly ours). I'll sweeten the deal, however by betting $50 that it is bad (PM me in advance if you want to take me up on this offer:thumbsup).

Re: OGPW2 and Bravery medal 1949

I have been misunderstood, I suppose. I have no doubt that the the booklet is faked. Two members of this forum have given their opinions, one would have been already sufficient to convince me.
