The seller words: This badge was manufactured to decorate prison guards for distinction.

It means "Detention Place". If real, it is more likely related to the regular prison system, IMHO.

Tal, that seller (I recognize the picture) is infamous for counterfeit "old" NKVD and Chekist stuff. I sincerely doubt this is a real "Detention Officer" badge from the 1930s.:thumbsdown
Below is the best Avers could come up with for an example. It is a "pretty" replica, but not for what he wants - maybe $20. Phillip
