Marketplace problem
Or actually - not a problem, rather a question:
Is the approval of ads really neccessary? I mean - the auctions can be checked when they are already active and closed if something forbidden is in them. I am asking, because of a small problem I have this time (and it's not the first time, altough it wasn't so in the past). On December 3rd I added a listing to last 3 days because I needed quick sell of this one. Now it's December 8th and it's still pending approval. in 2 days the reason I needed the money will disappear which means that I could well close the ad now (won't do it, as new reasons are to arise). Perhaps I would not get irritated by this situation (after few times You can get used to it), but it really makes me feel 2nd category user when I see that other users' auctions are opened in the meantime. So, is that approval thing realy neccessary? |

Re: Marketplace problem
I'd be happy to answer the question..and I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. The marketplace is here for everyone to use. I make no money from it other than the donations I receive from those that purchase subscriptions to help the site...Those that have subscriptions are not required to have their items approved. This is because someone who purchases a subscription for $20, is much less likely to post an ad which will cause them to lose their membership than some guy who registers an account and within minutes of activation posts 10 advertisements offering long-distance phone service and e-cigarettes.
So, short answer, if you don't want to spend the $20 for a membership to support the site, then your ads get posted when I have the time to approve them.

Re: Marketplace problem
I understand. Forum spam flooding can be a problem. Than again, wouldn't some user registration verification be better? It works on some forums. On the other hand maybe I am talking about something that does exist - don't know what registration form looks like these days.
Maybe then giving the other moderators power to verify auctions would be a good idea? I understand that You are a busy man and can't spent all Your time here, so getting a help with that may be a good Idea. I didn't complain when waiting time was 1-2days at worst. As for the subscription - as soon as use of paypal became possible in my country, I did pay for it (I still have marketplace credits from that time - don't use them as I feel that being a non-subscriber I would sort of cheat). Unfortunately, lately I hardly ever have any money for expanding my collection (not to mention more important things) and 20$ is a certain money to me. |

Re: Marketplace problem
Marketplace credits do nothing to alter your subscription status. They are intended to be used to access listing features which provide better visibility for your item. Ultimately, your subscription status is what will allow you to post instantly or to a queue which must be approved.
The moderators have enough to do, and the marketplace was originally going to be a bonus for subscribers only to participate. I allowed all members free use of the marketplace, with the only difference between subscribers and non-subscribers being non-subscribers will have to wait until I approve the items before they are posted. Poland doesn't have paypal? are you sure? https://www.paypal.com/pl/webapps/mpp/home
