I must have been thinking of something else when I answered :( I know the type of belt Alexei talks about (and shamelessly stole from the laboring masses ;) ), and I have never seen the officer's one.

Does anyone happen to have a pic of either type of belt so I could recognize one if I run across it?

If the telnik was worn as undershirt in soviet navy, what was the equivalent of underpants in the soviet navy? Did they have some sort of striped tights or something?
