Cold War Award
Hillary Clinton and American Parlament came up with a proposition of establishing a medal "For service during a Cold War". The medal will be awarded to all military personnel served in the Military in 09.02.1945-12.26.1991.
Hillary Clinton stated that US won in the cold war with Soviet Union because of millions of Americans serving in the military. These people deserve to be awarded. Cold War Award
Yeah, that compromise was like a slap to the face. As a medic I treated all varieties of injuries including; amputations, fractures, etc. Any injury you would see in a war passed through my ER and ICU. These injuries and deaths were from training accidents, etc. The sacrifices made by our military during the Cold War deserves a service medal NOT a cheap piece of paper and lip-service from our government!!

Cold War Award
Eric,
Hillary's verbage may have been "For Victory" but the version that a group of Veteran's Organizations are pushing is "For Service". This "Service" medal is the one we are working on. Doc |

I agree with establishing a medal "For Service". "for Victory" is a way too arrogant proposal and thus I think it should not be accepted.

Victory in Cold War.
This is the most stupid statement. How you can win in Cold War? In my opinion in Cold war both countries (I mean people) LOST. Also, I don't think that Soviet Union collepsed because of cold war or USA. There were many more more important different reasons. Eric |

Cold War Award
Eric,
I agree!! That's why we are asking for a "Cold War Service Medal" NOT the Senator's "Victory" medal. For those who think that there weren't losses think again. I'm sure that a Marine SSGT., that I treated, wouldn't consider the loss of both of his legs as trivial. All Medics and Corpsmen would tell you that there were indeed injuries and deaths during the period of the Cold War. We were constantly hit with Alerts. It was as real as it could get. This service and sacrifice should be recognized with a Service Medal. Doc |

The problem is the medal wasn't approved in the first place because the rationale was there were already enough "service" medals covering that time period - National Defense Service Medal, Korea, Vietnam, Expeditionary Service Medals, etc.
