Re: Badge Of Honour.
Order "Badge Of Honour" #285842.
Bad shape yes. This is the "before" picture. Missing the CCCP (which will not be replaced) and broken connection ring. This Order will be visiting the jeweller and I will have to acquire a new ribbon somewhere and I will give you the "after" shot. All I can say is the price was so right it is worth paying a professional jeweller to put it back together again.

Re: Badge Of Honour.
I have noticed something on all your OBOH and it is the same as for me,
The last 3 letters of the mint stamp slope in a strange line and break the curve of the letters before it. Is it just me that thinks this? I will take a photo of mine to show you too. |

Re: Badge Of Honour.
Do you think a T3 BoH ever came from the factory with a one-piece, brass suspension?
This would have been issued in the 1945-1950 timframe. I ask because I am under the impression that most 'Orders' came with a two-piece suspension.

Re: Badge Of Honour.
I just came from there. I guess that's probably why I stated 'I was under the impression that most 'Orders' came with a two-piece suspension'.
So a one-piece suspension on a T3 BoH has, without question, been altered from it's original state? The reason I'm asking is I'd like to upgrade my T4 to a T3 and have found a nice one but it's got the 'onesy'. :) It does have the patina to it that looks older, and my OG3 has a onesy as well. What are the odds that all ,original issue, late-40s Orders had two-piece suspensions: 100%, or maybe less?

Also, with the seperately-applied letters on the obverse, how were they affixed at the factory, solder or adhesive, either or what?

BoH Bar
I finally negotiated a trade for this wonderful piece. What made me pull the trigger on it was the even and evident signs of wear on the back of the bar. It is just a bummer that we will never discover the story behind it.
I like the unusual mounting of the Lenin Centennial Medal Last edited by PaulR; 11-18-2012 at 12:07 PM. |
