PS mine looks very like the first one pictured (so I don't have many illusions about it). I'd say the only genuine is the parade model with purple band.

Fuzzy pic, but looks correct for post 1982 Marshal USSR service cap.Not sure why its embroidered on black.

Don't the the cockades for generals and marshals also omit the white enamel around the star, just gold-colored?

they use the generals two part, all gold colored, cap bage. i can't see on my laptop screen here which type is in the jpeg.

I recentkly got out of DDR uniform collecting, selling all my reference books as well, so that I am not sure, but that gold thread wreath with black background looks suspiciously like a DDR Volksmarine (navy) admiral's cap wreath to me. Anyone out there with an East German reference book?

I stopped collecting DDR back in 1994but kept my copy of the above book.

I had a DDR Admirals parade uniform and the hat badge is different; metal ( past 1960 or so) and larger. Similar basic design though.

As a marshal of signals he would wear magenta, not red. Engineering and signals marshals were "technical", thus the magenta, thus its not his hat.

Thought so. It is interesting, however, to see the uniform, which the seller promissed to sell in the near future...
