They are not engineering related, they are actual orders: at left, Mongolian Order of the Red Banner and at right, Order from the autonomous Republic of Tuva.

Thanks Marc. I thought I'd seen the Mongolian Red Banner before, but I just couldn't recall it when I first saw it on the uniform. As for the Tuva Order, I would never have known what that was without a closer look - good eyes!:thumbsup

Is the third picture in post #9 airforce/space (the latter is a guess considering that he had both the HSU and HRF)? I can't see enough of the shoulder patch to tell.

This is actual hat that was attached to the top of Stalin casket. Hat has a hole in the crown where nail went through.

Very nice uniform, and that first stalin cap with the embroidery on it! Wonderful!

Budenniy summer tunic. Interesting to note that this tunic has a waist pockets that not supposed to be on model 1940.

Surprisingly enough Timoshenko tunic from the Central Army Museum also has waist pockets.
This is the same tunic he was wearing during that photo session in 1941.
