Which other award would use this kind of suspension? I have not seen any such. Having examined it closer, there might be traces from the round base of the pinback attachment device.
The ribbon has come off the attachment prongs. |

It could be any Soviet badge. The ribbon has been replaced.

No it could not be "any" Soviet badge, I have not seen any Soviet award except for the Afghanistan medal that has the exactly same shape and design for the suspension as the Lenin medal. Show me please!
Anyway, there is no need to argue further, if such suspension device was not made at the mint, someone else has made it. I think it is still interesting to discuss. Last edited by Tretov; 04-18-2008 at 11:21 AM. |

I don't have time to search for examples of badges, there are probably hundreds suspensions you can use. I spent 2 min searching on eBay. Here are two examples. I think you can use them to attach to Lenin medal. BTW, there is a possibility that it is home made variation. Eric |

Nice! Something learned each day :-)
Maybe I should remove the ribbon (I guess it can be re-attached) to see how the screw is attached on the other side of mine? |

Hi Tretov,
I would leave it as you found it. It´s an interesting modification, that would maybe add some "charm" for being home-made or unoficcially made. I have experimented "surgery" to lenin centenary medals, and the results have not been positive. :(

100th Lenin (military ver.) w/screwback vs. pinback...
Do you guys think this a carefully done homemade job, or did they come in both pinback and screwback? It's actually hard to tell holding the medal. If it's homemade, it's well done.

I think it's a home made conversion. Can you remove the ribbon and post a picture of the front?

I agree with Alexei, home-made without hesitation. Marc |

100 Lenin Centenary Medal & Documents
(I'm not sure if this belongs here or the research section) I recently obtained this medal honoring our beloved Vladimir Illich. (I got the labor version) However, I did find this great Russian website filled with loads of information on this medal, it has good closeups of all three variants, and their respective document certifcates. It also has a page devoted to the different mint marks on the back side of the boot tree suspension. All in all, a very informative webpage! The first link is info on the medal and documents, the second link has details on the mint marks: Þáèëåéíàÿ ìåäàëü “Çà äîáëåñòíûé òðóä. Â îçíàìåíîâàíèå 100-ëåòèÿ ñî äíÿ ðîæäåíèÿ Â.È. Ëåíèíà”
