Warsaw - Photos of today/1944

This site provide a photo contrast between 1944 and today in the city of Warsaw.

The pictures are done very well. FOTO-ALBUM PROJEKTU "ŚLADAMI POWSTAŃCZEJ FOTOGRAFII"

When I visited Warsaw I remember going to the city museum and remember that of the immediate post-war pictures, most of the buildings were reduced to knee-height. The reconstruction is truly remarkable.

There is now a wonderful new museum dedicated to the '44 Rising. Anyone that visits Warsaw MUST put this on their list of things to visit. You miss it, you might has well never stepped foot in the city!

I have to agree with that. But You should remember that altough this museum is probably the best designed museum in Poland, it is also probably the least objective of them.

Interesting site. I was in Warsaw in December and I recognized several places that I saw. I have to say the Poles have done a remarkable job in reconstructing the historical cores of their major cities and historical sites. I was also in Gdnask and the reconstruction of it's historical center is equally impressive.
