Mike,
It is all original. I have seen a few medals with such protection on the ribbon. Marc |

Re: Defense of the Caucasus medal information.
Are you looking for info about the specific maker's mark on the back?
As far as the DoC goes 870,000 or so were issued. Ya know, I've never check my medal's suspensions for maker's marks. Maybe I should go do that? Nah, after a long day at work I'm gonna relax for a bit....

Re: Defense of the Caucasus medal information.
Ruiz,
the markers mark on the reverse is from the Molnija factory. This mark is only found on the medals "Defence of the Caucasus". Little is known about the different factory marks on suspensions. bets regards Andreas |

Re: defence of documents
It is amazing how much the price of award docs have skyrocketed.
i remember that it used to be common to find medals with their docs. Now it is a completely different story. |

I just picked this one up and though it is torn along the folding seems on the bottom, it seems okay, but I am deferring to the experts here. I've always had trouble with Russian script and I haven't a clue about validity and accuracy of stamps from this period.
I have two of the medals, but that is for another thread. Thanks guys, as always. Phillip
