Me too. But...here are some shots of the main KGB badges I have now. Of course the NKVD egg is a replica (don't see me ever buying a real one) and the 60th and 70th anniversary badges are copies until I can find real ones to take their places, but the rest are real. There is that one at the bottom with a red background that I see in Avers but have never figured out what its a 1988 anniversary of. Any ideas - anyone?

And a couple of close-ups...that second one is the one I was asking about.

Also, if anyone knows what this one really is, I'd appreciate the help. I was told one thing by the fellow who sold it to me (along with the unknown one above) in Moscow, but I have my doubts. I've never seen one like this design since I bought this one. НКВД левая, КГБ правая и ВВ МПУ?

I believe in this case ВВМПУ stands for Высшее Военно-Морское Пограничное Училище or Highest Coast Guard School.

I am not totally convinced that this badge is genuine.

Thanks Alexei. I've had it since the early 1990s and I've only kept it for nostalgic reasons.

But what about the one on the right in #210? As I said, I keep seeing it in Avers, but I don't know what the "ОУР" stands for and red isn't usually a KGB color.:confused:

Phil, for your badge in post 211, I checked a book on Navy badges that I have. Although there are similar ones, I could not find yours.

It isn't a great loss if I never know what it was (or wasn't). But that one in #210 is beginning to drive me crazy. I can't find the acronym ОУР anywhere and until I posted the picture, it didn't bother me like it does now...:banghead

Saw this on a site selling for $750 (wow). I'm very new. Must be real... Right?
