1810 ticket to celebrate AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE in STONE RIDGE NY:
$135.00

For sale is an exceedingly scarce, undocumented ephemeral item: A ticket or invitation to the "Commemoration of American Independence. The Company of Miss Rachel Goetschius is solicited at Liberty Hall in the Village of Stone Ridge, on Wednesday, the FOURTH OF JULY, at one o'clock PM. Dinah M. Wyncoop, Rachel Goetschius, Eliza N. Gantine, Margaret S. Goetschius, Leonard Hurdenbergh, William I Burlingham, Ebenezer Lounsbery, John Nottingham." On the back is written some numbers and two red heart stamps. I believe this to be the Village of Stone Ridge New York, as a Dinah Wynkoop is among the invitees, and the Stone Ridge in New York is a place where George Washington spent a night at the home of Cornelius Wynkoop, who was Dinah's grandfather. An interesting piece of local Ulster County history.
