Book matching awards serial numbers to dates
Fellow collectors,
A friend of mine just told me about what seems to be great book for historical research. The tiltle of the book is: "Sistema Nagradnih Documentov i Chronologicheskiye Tablizi Opredeleniya po Nomeru Nagrad Dat Nagrazdeniya i Vrucheniya" The English translation of the title: "System of Award Documents and Chronological Tables for Determining Award Dates and Decoration Dates by the Serial Numbers". Authors: Lazarenko and Pozdnishev Language: Russian Published in Kiev in 2001 This looks like great aid for awards collectors and historical research enthusiats. Has anyone seen this book? Best, William |

This book (actually, there should be 3 of them for this edition) is not accurate, has quite a few errors. The author, although did a tedious job, is not a collector, but decided to break the orders by type, etc. For example, take a look at orders of Red Banner, you'll see what I'm talking about. The same author (Lazarenko) also published 4 or 5 very small (orders book size) booklets, specific to certain orders (Lenin, Red Star, etc.), but essentially, simply broke into smaller parts and published the book mentioned above... Nevertheless, it could provide a faint feel of approx. date of awarding..., but nothing more...
