Dembel Parachutist Badge.
Do any of you know this airborne badge? I guess it is some sort of veteran's badge? I picked it up today because it looked a bit different and a bit older than what I often see with badges on the street, but beyond the airborne forces "VDV" and the dirt dart headed for a sudden stop in straight-leg land, I don't have a clue about it. 50's or early 60's?

This looks homemade. Neat!
I can't tell from the scale, but the plane and jumper may be components from an actual jump badge. Last edited by CtahhR; 05-13-2013 at 07:44 AM. |

You may have pegged it...
You may have pegged it: the aircraft and the jumper are essentially the same size as on the 50's-70's jump wings I have sitting around, but have slightly more detail than on the actual jump badges I have. The maker must have ground out Ole Boy's left arm to improve his diving style.
How would someone get them off the wings since they are normally made as part of a one-piece badge? Were earlier badges multi-piece such that you could break out the components, or did someone actually grind away an entire badge just to get the aircraft and the lawn-dart? |

Earlier badges were multi-piece and/or the creator could have ground down a badge.

Guys,
That could very well be a dembel-type badge, home made to impress. Marc |
