Re: Ciney Belgium

Wow! Did you manage to pick anything up Andreas?

All the shows i've been to in the UK have no Soviet stuff whatsoever. Wish i could of been here!

Re: Ciney Belgium

I think I see 45 (Euros?) on the Red Stars, so that's not out of line, I don't think.

Re: Ciney Belgium

Complete difference to my local militaria show last weekend.

If you are lucky you can pick up some bargains as they often do not know the real prices of many soviet awards. Unfortunately this time they were way over priced e.g. 3 mil ORS started at $195 and VoG were priced at $135!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I would have come back with a severely thinner wallet if I had attended that show in Belgium.

Re: Ciney Belgium

There were many russian people (with big money) on the show from Latvia, Estonia and Moscow but all were looking for bargains. Or for high end awards for low prices.

A few people had the luck to find a bargain.
OSIACHIM badge for 4 Euro, Red Banner reissue for 100 Euro. But that was the exception.

Demand after soviet awards for normal prices was low. Belgian people were not interested, or only in Jubilee medals for 2 or 3 Euro.
The economic crises hit these days Belgium very hard. A big car factory is closing, 10.000 people will lose their jobs.

Prices for normal Red Stars were around 45 Euro
normal OGPW 2nd class around 80 to 95 Euro.
Glory 3rd class was from 65 to 80 Euro

best regards
Andreas

Andreas,

Thank you for your report from the front lines.

It seems that I am not the only one to say that the so called "current prices" were overpriced

Re: Shot in the dark

As promised. Sorry, but it was cold enough that photography wasn't high on the priority list...
