Excellent..these are on my shopping list...actually they have been for awhile, but I'm thinking about buying the Shiskov books. There seems to be a companion set of two books to this set, but these are of the Order of Glory. I'm not sure if it's all 3 classes, just 1 st, or just cavalier holders, but they looked almost identical to these..

I have recently acquired this outstanding 2 volume set; but as my knowledge of the Russian language is very poor, I can't understand what mean the lines (Lum... something... see pic.) at the end of each Soviet Union Hero biography. :confused:
It is obviously not the Hero Star SN... and I think it may be linked to the Sources / References published at the end of each volume. Is this correct ?

If not, what is it exactly ?

Those are references to the sources, ie books in which the recepient was mentioned.

"Lum" stahds for Literature.

There's a list of books in the end and "120/84-87" means - look in book #120 from the list, pages 84-87.

I have the two books listed here, along with another one in the set which details those awarded to two or more hero stars. I was offered the following one recently. Not sure if anyone has seen this one, or if it simply covers the same ground as the set listed in this post. Anyone read this one?

This book (one of several of this kind) lists a few biographies of better known people, but it is of little value otherwise.
