Here are some scans of epaulets that were for Marshal USSR/ Generalissimo USSR but were not adopted. There is at least one more set, for Generalissimo USSR that are in a private collection. These epaulets were for parade use and seem to not have nearly the effort put into them in the design process (at least in number designed) that the service/ parade boards did.

These exp./prototype epaulets are the most ornate ever produced by the USSR, even if never adopted.

The scans are from Zueghaus Magazing and Marshals and Admirals of the USSR by Kutsenko.

As much as I like shiny bullion thread I have to think say that these epaulets just don't cut it for me. If they were to be used on a dress uniform I think they would have cheapened their killer M45 dress uniforms. Having a prototype in the collection would be nice but for me they would ruin an already great looking tunic. Thanks for sharing these Doug. CLete
