More Abkhazi information
On the top abhkazi badge the small star under the enamel does not show well because it is an outline of a star. The star on the badge below is solid and shows.

The detail in the badge on the lower right, specifically the circular design element in the upper left corner is amazing. Very nice.

Back to Azerbaijan
Attached is a scan of TsIK badges from Azerbaijan. The chronological order appears to go upper right, lower right [Marked (Kh-M) and (875)], upper left, lower left. The order of the two almost identical is uncertain though. They differ based on flat reverse or mirror/relief reverse. (My scan of the reverse didn't work because of the pins.)
Azerbaijan used Arabic until approximately 1928, then switched to Latin script. Cyrillic was used throughout the period though. Upper right before 1928, Lower right 1928 or later based on proof mark - (proof mark changed about 1927 from 84/96 to 875/1000) There is an earlier badge of the same style with (84) proof marks. There were 8 convocations for TsIK in Azerbaijan 1921, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 35. Which means these could be 25 (27 with 84 proof not shown here), 29, 31, 35. (Or maybe not, which is why we do research and show up here at the forums.) |

Second series
The second series of badges contain two georgian and three abkhazia. The "h" letter with two humps is an "R" in georgian. There would need to be one of those in the name of the name of the republic for Adjara. The red badge is Abhazia with the second letter (looks like a "9" with two loops) being a Georgian "P" for "Apsnia" Georgian for Abkhazia, or thereabout. In the Caucasas both Armenian and Georgia the "P" and "B" are frequently interchanged. I think it is 2nd convocation - 1947 - 1951. Large relief Hammer and sickle. THe green/white/red is post soviet following the design of the 1920's flag for the mountain republic (Gorskoi).
