Suspicious Grouping...
Hi, As an amateur collector I jumped at the chance to acquire this group of medals (from our favourite auction site)...They arrived today and I've noticed something that I makes me worry. The suspension on each one seems to have been cut, now I expect that this is not usual???. Does this point to the medals being replaced or do you think it is something worse..
Comments appreciated... |

Hello,
It seems that they didn`t have the group made when you ordered it... the ribbons are all sloppily mounted so it seems they built it quickly to make it on time...

Links
Good evening,
I can't see it very well, but is the link; that connects the medals to the hanger, on the Bravery Medal and Combat Service soldered together or is it cut like the other 3 medals? I tend to believe that if the links are soldered together, at least the Bravery and Combat Service medals are original to this group. I've seen many "higher" medals and orders with its links soldered together. I am assuming that the reason the link is soldered together is to prevent losing the medal. Poorly made up groups tends to have cut links; the ones that I have seen. A well worn group. Too bad it wasn't kept in the family. v/r Dat Nguyen |

The ribbons are mounted very very sloppily... but on the other hand, it may have been done by a old man, veteran, who did not really care to make it perfect. Looks awful though.

I would fix the ribbons, each ribbon should over lap the one to the right.
It would look a 100% better. Quote:

Guys,
Just to add my two kopeks - the medals are genuine, but I do not believe they belong to the same group. Looks like some foreign dealer just put these ribbons on a parade suspension to try to push the medals as a group. Alexei |
