Does anyone know the answer to these questions (I have actually been doing research in an attempt to find an answer, but so far no luck).

!. What color branch piping was worn by Soviet Army Railway Troops ?

2. What collar insignia was worn by soldiers of the Central Military Transportation Directorate (VOSO) ?

Well, any period actually.

Wasn't it a red crown, blue piping and a black velvet band during some years?
I'm probably wrong, but I'm not sure about this, but are the transportation caps the same as railway operators?

my book of uniforms refers to "emblems of military trasportation corps and railway troops" so I'm not sure what the distinction between the two would be. Piping is described as "azure" or for us less fashion oriented, blue in the 1935 regulations. black velvet was the background for officers and non coms as was the collar itself in the m43 kitel. Enlisted otherwise got black cloth backgrounds. Collar tab and later epaulet device was the anchor, hammer, wrench and winged star. Well I lost my avatar trying to change it but here is the device. Piping changed to green in 1943
