Is this uniform real?
Hey,
someone is offering this officer's "kitel" on a known auction site. He says that everything, but the visor hat, is original. Can you verify if it is original and matching and what part of the troops it belongs to? Here's the link: ALTE OFFIZIER UNIFORM! RAR! | eBay Regards :) |

Re: Is this uniform real?
It appears to be genuine kitel and pants. The ribbon bar has nothing to do with it and the epaulets are unlikely to be period from this altitude. Can't say anything about the cap except it seems awfully new looking. Better closeups of all these things (hat, epaulets, ribbon bar) would help say for sure. The photo doesn't match the uniform so I'm not sure why that was included in the listing. Even if only the pants and jacket are genuine, it's not a bad opening bid though and would have potential.

Re: Is this uniform real?
Without a doubt, more qualitative images need to be presented to me in order to provide further opinions...
However, I see and am ready to comment that the stars on the shoulder-boards are not in order. In other words, they are the type that appeared in the middle 50s, and the type of shoulder-boards present are 1943-46 type. Also, as Jeff has stated, the cap first and foremost requires such images, and the ribbon bar is, well... :teehee |

Re: Is this uniform real?
Well the seller already said that the hat would be a copy. The epaulats seemed to me also very shiny. I will try to get better photos of them and of the ribbon bar.

Re: Is this uniform real?
Today I received the seller's answer. It said that he is not able to send pictures, because he is in St.Petersburg now for shopping. But if I get the uniform I will post pictures as soon as it reaches me.
Maybe it is a dumb question but: To which troops does it belong with its purple colour? Hope you could help me. :) |

Re: Is this uniform real?
Purple piping corresponds to infantry.

Re: Is this uniform real?
I see the difference in pant's and tunic's piping color.
Pant's piping color looks artillery or armour troops to me. |

Re: Is this uniform real?
Auction ended in this moment.
Unfortunately I was not able to buy it. The price was 171€ and I bid 169,99€. Bad luck :thumbsdown What would be a normal price for a kitel like this? |

Re: Is this uniform real?
With the issues raised (not vintage ribbon bar, hat copy, unanswered questions about epaulets, and pants stripe of wrong color) i think 170E ($250) was probably about right for an aggregate price for the different items. If all was proper, vintage and matched a higher price would be appropriate but I think the buyer and seller should be pleased with what they got in this case
